Did The Internet Change The World For The Worse?
The Snelgraphix Designing Minds Blog: Problems with niche content marketing.
The negative impact of social media is social division.*
The internet gives us the power to find like-minded people who share our interests. We can join groups of others who think and behave as we do, finding comfort in the familiar. This same technology also allows us to virtually jump down each other's throats, arguing over things like cannabis legalization, climate change, evolution, and of course, presidential politics.*
Does the truth matter?
In our experience, the fact of the matter is that facts matter less than engaging narrative. Most people seek closure. Most of us usually filter out facts that contradict our beliefs and fail to notice logical fallacies as a result. We can't help this unconscious behavior that further fractures our shared world of conflicting opinions. None of this is new, but social media can make everything that much worse.*
